Job Description
The Library Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the library by assisting with the physical processing and organization of library materials, performing basic data entry and record maintenance, and providing general support for library projects and services. This position requires attention to detail, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to learn library software. The student assistant may also help create promotional materials, displays, and graphics to support library programs and outreach efforts. Successful candidates will be dependable, organized, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with library staff.
Library & Materials Processing
- Attention to detail and accurately processing library materials.
- Attention to detail when handling library resources.
- Ability to organize materials using alphanumerical calling.
- Ability to perform inventory and collection maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with library classification systems (Dewey Decimal) preferred.
Computer & Software Skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software applications quickly.
- Ability to do data entry.
- Troubleshoot minor technology issues and follow established procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Graphic Design & Creative Skills
- interest in graphic design or experience.
- Ability to create promotional materials such as flyers, posters, social media graphics, and displays.
- sense of visual organization and attention to detail in design work.
- Ability to follow branding and style guidelines.
- Experience in using programs like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Work Availability
18.75 hours per week within the times of Monday thru Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
