The Career Development office hosts several career fairs and events for students and employers throughout the year. Find the right event for you!

The Part-Time Job Fair brings together students who are looking for part-time jobs with local employers who offer part-time employment on the Pitt State campus and in the local Pittsburg area.

This FREE event is perfect for employers who have temporary or part-time open positions. This casual recruiting event will be held inside the Crimson and Gold Ballroom in the Student Center. Due to the informal nature of this event, students are unlikely to have a resume.

Date: Tuesday, August 20, 2024

Time: 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM

Location: Student Center, Crimson and Gold Ballroom

Cost: Free to students and employers

Meet the Firms Day is a networking event that targets students in the following areas of academic study:

  • Accounting;
  • Data Science and Information System
  • Business Economics;
  • Finance;
  • Fraud Examination minors;
  • Internal Audit minors;
  • Internal Audit Education Partnership certificate candidates; and
  • MBAs with a concentration in Accounting

Candidates are seeking full-time and internship opportunities.

Date: Monday, September 16, 2024

Time: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Location: Wilkinson Alumni Center

This event is co-hosted with the First Year Programs office, and designed for students to explore the available majors, minors, and certificate programs that PSU has to offer!

Representatives from every academic department on campus will be available to answer any questions you have about their programs, and majors and minors. This event will be held in Axe Library.

The PSU College of Technology will once again be hosting the annual Company Days event on Tuesday and Wednesday, September  24-25, 2024.  The event will be held at the Kansas Technology Center.

Tuesday, September 24, 2024 with a focus on:

  • Construction Management/Construction Engineering Technology
  • 2-yr Electrical Technology
  • Environmental and Safety Management
  • Wood Product Manufacturing

Wednesday, September 25, 2024 with a focus on:

  • Automotive Technology, Diesel & Heavy Equipment
  • Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Plastics Engineering Technology
  • Graphic Communications (moved to Wednesday)

Professional development is critical for students’ future success. Training in areas such as etiquette and professionalism are no longer just considered an advantage, but a requirement for today’s competitive job market. Attendees of the Student Etiquette Dinner will learn about professional, interviewing and dining etiquette while enjoying dinner.

Date: Tuesday, October 1, 2024

Time: 6:00 – 7:00 PM.  Check-in 5:30 – 6:00 PM.  Presentation will begin promptly at 6:00 PM.

Dress: Business Casual

Cost: $10.00

Fall Career Fair is an in-person, career fair event open to students from all majors and classifications. Students network with employers and learn more about opportunities available in their field of interest. This fair targets experiential learning opportunities from summer employment at camps to internships and full-time professional positions.

Due to limited space, if you are hiring one of the following Majors, please try to attend the targeted fair specified below:

  • College of Technology Company Days – Technology majors
  • Education Fair – Education/Teaching majors
  • Criminal Justice Fair – Criminal Justice majors
  • Nurse Career Day – Nursing majors 

Education Fair is a career-fair style, networking event for education majors and those in a teaching-related field.  School districts attend this event to meet and network with students about job opportunities in their districts.

Criminal Justice Fair is a networking mixer for criminal justice majors, minors and those students interested in the field including law enforcement, corrections, and legal proceedings.

Nurse Career Day is a recruiting day for nursing majors with two types of way to engage with hospitals, clinics and other healthcare organizations.

Time: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Location: Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing

Schedule:

9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Career Fair
(all Nursing students, freshmen through seniors, are invited)

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Lunch

12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Interviews
(Senior Nursing students only. Students will sign up in advance)

2:15 PM – 3:15 PM: Employer Panel 

Teacher Interview Day is for education majors and those in a teaching-related field. School districts from several states attend this event, and students and alumni sign-up for professional interviews to meet with these employers.
